Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
When you use Energy Scout, we may collect the following information:
- Zip code — to look up your area's solar potential using publicly available NREL data
- Email address — only if you voluntarily provide it to receive your free solar report
- Usage data — anonymous analytics about how visitors use the site (via Google Analytics)
We do not collect your name, phone number, home address, Social Security number, or financial information.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To generate your personalized solar and battery savings estimate
- To send you your free solar report via email (if you request it)
- To improve the accuracy and functionality of our tools
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information.
If you explicitly opt in by checking the "Connect me with local installers" checkbox, we may share your email address and zip code with vetted local solar installation companies so they can provide you with a free, no-obligation consultation. You must actively check this box — it is not pre-selected.
We may share anonymous, aggregated usage statistics (e.g., "500 users searched Sacramento zip codes this month") that cannot identify any individual.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS). We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. We retain your email and assessment data for as long as needed to provide our services, or until you request deletion.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Delete your personal data at any time
- Opt out of any future communications
- Withdraw consent for installer contact at any time
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@energyscout.org.
6. California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. To make a CCPA request, contact hello@energyscout.org.
7. Cookies & Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to understand how visitors use our site. These services may set cookies on your browser. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
8. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Energy Scout:

- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics
Each of these services has their own privacy policy governing how they handle data.
9. Children's Privacy
